In this episode of Race Wife Unfiltered, I discuss the issues that women in motorsports face when it comes to funding their motorsports careers.

Recently, Canadian NASCAR driver Amber Balcaen mentioned that her race at Kansas Speedway would be her last race until she can get more sponsorship. This was heartbreaking as Arca Series drivers are already underrepresented in the media and receive less airtime than other NASCAR series. Amber's situation is even more concerning when compared to other female drivers such as Toni Breidinger who has multiple high-profile sponsors, such as Victoria's Secret and Hot Wheels. This discrepancy brings attention to the issue of gender inequality in the racing industry, where female drivers are often not given the same opportunities as their male counterparts. Mandy Chick is another female driver in the Arca Series, and all three of them are talented and deserve the same opportunities. It is important to recognize and address this issue of unequal sponsorship and representation in Motorsports so that female drivers can have the same opportunities as their male counterparts.

Amber has a strong social media following, with 89,000 followers on Instagram, 83,000 followers on Facebook, and a smaller following on Twitter. However, despite her success in NASCAR, she has not secured many major sponsorships. She is currently sponsored by Icon, a company that sells RV parts, a trucking company, and a marketing and web design agency, but these companies have smaller advertising budgets. Amber has a management company, Dulcedo Management and they should be helping her to secure sponsors. For drivers without a management company, they need to know how to promote themselves and build their own brands in order to secure larger sponsorships.

This conversation focuses on the importance of social media in the racing industry, and how it can be used to help drivers get sponsorships and brand deals. It is important to not just rely on the digital space for promotions but also to network and do public speaking in order to market oneself. Depending on the audience, different age groups use social media differently, and it is important to understand this in order to be effective in using it to promote oneself.
